Nurturing Growth Through Therapy

Nurturing Growth Through Therapy

The core of my approach is rooted in Dr. Carl Rogers' Person-centred theory, which emerged in the 1940s and 1950s. It marked the pioneering phase of talk therapy grounded in empirical research. By analysing recorded therapy sessions to identify effective therapist interventions, a comprehensive theory and practise emerged. This framework has evolved, matured, gained support, and been validated through years of research (e.g., Cooper, Watson, & Holldampf, 2010; Elliott et al., 2013; Murphy & Joseph, 2016).

I may also incorporate other theories and interventions into my work if I believe they can offer therapeutic benefits, such as Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, or psychoeducation. These tools can aid in comprehending your experiences and understanding their influence.

As a client-centered therapist, my objective is to foster authentic, non-judgmental care. I embrace your self-expression as it is, devoid of any shadow of doubt or scepticism. This stance is not indicative of naivety but rather an approach that nurtures trust, encourages deeper self-exploration, and corrects any misleading statements (even by your own admission) as our bond strengthens.

My initial session entails a 30-minute conversation during which I'll assess your needs and determine if I'm the right fit to support your objectives. Throughout this discussion, you'll have the freedom to decide if you'd like to collaborate with me. Subsequent sessions will then extend to 50 minutes, providing us ample time for our therapeutic journey.
